This article shares 11 things you can do to alleviate some of the pain you have during your twin pregnancy.

Pregnancy Pillow

For most moms-to-be, getting a good night’s sleep helps you recover from a day of growing your babies and also prepares you for the next day. However, it can be most uncomfortable to sleep while you’re pregnancy – especially when you have two babies kicking around inside your belly.

Pregnancy pillows are large U-shaped or C-shaped pillows that wrap around your body to help moms position themselves comfortably during pregnancy. The unique shape of the pillow supports your neck, back, pregnancy bump and legs all at the same time.

Pregnancy Support Belt

Many moms have turned to pregnancy support belts, also called maternity support belts, to lighten the weight of carrying their growing baby. In the case of twins that pregnancy support belt is doing double duty.

Pregnancy support belt wraps around the lower back and belly to support the back and abdomen, discouraging bodily stress and strain and encourage good posture.

Pregnancy support belts are different form post partum support recovery belts, which are often used after birth to help the belly return to it’s pre-baby form.

The average cost of the top 10 Pregnancy support belts on Amazon $20.73.

Add Shoulder Straps

As your belly continues to grow, walking around becomes more and more difficult because your belly adds more weight to your back, legs and knees all at once.

Shoulder straps can be added to most pregnancy support belts with Velcro. The straps lead from your support belt over your shoulders, similar to suspenders. They allow your shoulders to lift your belly evenly, pulling the weight off of your back so you feel lighter and balanced, while helping with posture.

Relax and sleep on a recliner chair

Sitting down and then lifting yourself up again may become one of the most unexpected, but difficult hurdles to cross in the final stages of a twin pregnancy. If you find yourself needing assistance (or even having pain) when lifting out of bed, it may be more comfortable for your body to move to recliner chair.

With a recliner chair, you can do the bare minimum – go from a standing to seated position – and push a button to lay down or stand up. You won’t have to use your strength to move into a laying position on your own or so to a seated position when you’re laying down. The chair can do most of the work for you so you can use your strength for growing babies.

Take heartburn medicine

During a twin pregnancy, you may find that the two babies bouncing around in your body make the rest of your body behave in mysterious ways – including a dramatic amount of acid reflux.

Pool

Walking around in a pool allows you to float because the water is more dense than you body and gives the feeling of floating. You’ve likely gained lots of weight during the pregnancy, both to support the babies and the weight of the babies themselves at this point and you’re supporting all of this weight on your legs and knees when you’re walking on the ground. The water helps to displace that weight and gives you a feeling of weightlessness.

Bath

For a similar reason to a pool, the water in a bathtub helps to displace the weight from your legs and knees and give you a lighter feeling when you. When you’re in a bathtub you can also sit, play your favorite music, light a candle and add bubbles to your water or oils you enjoy.

Chair in the shower

Adding a bathroom bench to your bathtub or shower will allow you to sit while you shower. The weight gain during a twin pregnancy can even make it difficult to stand in the shower for a few minutes.
